After years abroad in Australia, Papua New Guinea, Zambia and South-West Africa, Larry gets itchy feet once again, and happens upon an advertisement for a Canadian mining company. After a false start, where he had a bit fun with the local union in neighbouring Michigan, Larry secures his position as a fitter at a uranium mine and begins five years in the Great White North.

“If you’re going to enjoy Canada, you have to enjoy winter,” he was told. And God knows he tried. He learned to skate, ski, curl and ice fish. He learned that on skates he stood almost seven feet tall, he had a massive nuisance value while playing ice hockey. The Limey Labour renovated the local Legion and turned into their social and cricket club. He even finds time for a little romance and enjoyed Canada so much he married a Canadian gal.

It’s a story of five exciting, fun filled years in Northern Ontario, the people he met and the friends he made.
