Why I Do What I Do – And Why I Should!

Why is it that creativity is so vitally important in my everyday life? Well it is this simple, by ensuring that I am constantly contributing in a creative way makes my life infinitely more interesting and the fulfilment factor is extremely satisfying. Creativity is a way of living life that embraces individuality and makes exceptional connections between contrasting concepts and ideas. Creativity is about living life to its fullest and communicating the uniqueness of your ideas into a state of manifestation.

We often think about creativity as making something, but in fact the core definition of the word means ‘to grow’. When we are expressing our natural desire to be creative, it becomes as though the world and all that is in it is electric and amazing – and the truth is because that is how it actually is.

I have been fortunate enough in my career to always work in the creative arts and on a daily basis, I am facilitating the re-discovery of the creative desire in others through publishing their work, assisting in the marketing and promotion of this work and with some - taking them onto the stage to share their creativity and message to a live audience.

For over 10 years I have travelled throughout Australasia presenting seminars on the publishing process. Sharing the latest developments and changes within the book publishing industry and most importantly, sharing new and innovative ways to understand the creative process and realise it through writing and publishing a book. The satisfaction in presenting these seminars is fantastic and the new relationships formed, the creative works I am privileged to be a part of and the release of the creative passion within the people I connect with, is nothing short of magnificent.

The problem I see most in the business world today is people not doing what they love. They either get into doing something because someone else has made money out of it, and they feel they can replicate it – totally uncreative with no individuality so while they might succeed, the fulfilment is fleeting and insincere. Or they have taken up a career or job because the social expectation to get a job, buy a house, marry, have kids and well – die, is what they feel is necessary and ‘normal’. Errgh – I do not like that word.. Creative thinking and leadership offers much more daily fulfilment and satisfaction and creates the habit of waking up smiling and going home singing – something I am fortunate enough to experience every single day.

There is much more to this process and way of life than a 500 word blog can offer and I have other things to attend to today to bring me further fulfilment in this awesome journey that is life. However stay tuned for more blogs and information about this inspirational way of life structure. Also keep an eye out for the seminars and workshops that I am extremely grateful to be presenting throughout Australia. The topics of each are Creative Leadership, Creating A Book For Your Business and Inspired to Publish. Dates and locations of the presentations can be found on my website OceanReeve.com
